Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
We know choosing in-home care can feel overwhelming. To make things easier, we’ve answered some of the most common questions here. If you don’t see your question below, please reach out — we’re always happy to help.
1
Are you a licensed home care agency?
No. Calabria Home Care is not a licensed home care agency. We are a referral and coordination service, which means we connect families with trusted independent caregivers and help manage the scheduling and payment process.

We chose this model intentionally because it allows us to:
-
Be more selective — our network includes only caregivers we know and trust, not just anyone who applies.
-
Provide personalized coordination — we take the time to understand your family’s needs and preferences, then carefully match you with caregivers who are the right fit.
-
Deliver above-standard care — by focusing on quality over quantity, we ensure families are connected with exceptional caregivers who treat your loved ones like family.

This approach keeps things simple while giving families confidence that their care is thoughtfully managed from the very beginning.
2
Do you provide both medical and non-medical care?
Yes. We coordinate referrals to independent caregivers who may provide:
-
Non-medical support such as companionship, personal care, or household help.
-
Licensed professionals (such as nurses) for families who need medical support.

All care is provided directly by the caregivers themselves, not by Calabria Home Care.

What makes our process different is that we take the time to understand your family’s needs and preferences and then carefully match you with caregivers who can provide personalized, one-on-one support that fits your situation.
3
How much does private care cost?
Rates vary depending on the caregiver’s qualifications, the type of care needed, and the number of hours requested.

As a general guide, basic non-medical support begins at $50 per hour. The rate may increase for more advanced or specialized care, such as dementia support or nursing services.

During your in-home consultation, we’ll review your family’s needs in detail and provide a clear, personalized breakdown of estimated costs before care begins.
4
What payment options do you offer?
At Calabria Home Care, we understand that every family’s care needs are different. That’s why we offer two flexible coordination options designed to match your level of support:

-
Hourly Coordination Plan (Standard) - Ideal for families needing 12 or more hours of care per week. We carefully match you with caregivers based on your family’s needs and handle all scheduling and coordination on your behalf. Rates start at $50/hour and vary based on the caregiver’s qualifications and the level of care required.

-
Weekly Coordination Plan - Perfect for families who need limited, part-time care (typically fewer than 12 hours per week). A flat weekly fee covers caregiver referrals, scheduling coordination, and administrative support - all without hourly billing. Care is scheduled in 4-hour minimum increments, offering flexibility and consistent coverage.

All payments are processed securely through ACH or credit card with automatic billing for convenience.
5
How soon can care start?
In many cases, we can match families with available caregivers within just a few days. The exact timeline depends on your scheduling needs and the availability of caregivers in our network.

Before care begins, we do require that all paperwork and agreements are completed to ensure everything is in place for a smooth and safe start.
6
Will we have the same caregiver every time?
Depending on the number of hours and type of care required, families may work with one caregiver or a team of caregivers. We take great care in selecting professionals who are a good fit for your family’s preferences and needs.
7
Do caregivers provide transportation?
Some caregivers in our network are available to drive clients to appointments, errands, or social activities. We’ll ask about your transportation needs during the consultation and match you with caregivers who can provide that service.
8
How do payments work?
Calabria Home Care manages the payment process on your behalf. Families pay us directly, and we distribute payments to caregivers — making the process simpler for you and ensuring caregivers are paid securely and on time.

All payments are handled through secure auto-pay, using a bank account (ACH) or credit card on file. This keeps billing hassle-free, consistent, and worry-free for families.
